“This is another milestone in my career, which will now require even more hard work and absolute consistency with the bat in order for me to hold on to the ranking for an extended period of time,” Babar said in a statement issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

“I have also previously topped the T20I rankings, but the ultimate ambition and goal are to lead the Test rankings.”

The national cricket team had a good time preparing for the tour of South Africa. It was feared that the batting line-up would face problems in the ODI series.

In the first match, the guest bowlers took advantage of the moisture on the Centurion pitch to put pressure on the opposing team. Problems in the field also provided an opportunity for South Africa to set a reasonable target. The Pakistan cricket team struggled to reach the target and finally won the match.

In the second match, the counterattack of the South African team made the guest bowlers forget the line and length. As the wickets began to fall steadily from the start, the signs of defeat became more apparent, but Fakhruzzaman played a memorable inning. The hosts’ breath is restored by Fakher Zaman’s run-out due to Quentin de Kock’s deception. Despite this defeat, Fakhr Zaman must have given a positive thought to his teammates that if they dare, the Proteas are not invincible even in their home conditions.

In the third match, South Africa had to come on the field with 7 changes. Fakhr Zaman once again played brilliant innings. First Imam-ul-Haq, then the partnership with Babar Azam gave Pakistan a great start. The Pakistani captain, who got the first chance in the series, made deep holes in the batting of the South African team, Although the host team did not surrender easily, despite some problems, the Pakistani polling was strong enough to win the match, and the series.

Winning any series in non-Asian conditions is definitely a great achievement. In order to continue the journey toward prosperity, one has to keep trying to overcome these shortcomings of the Pakistan cricket team.
